FAQ
Online Renewal of Accommodations FAQ
When should I renew my accommodations?
The Centre advises all students to renew accommodations for the current semester only after having attended at least one class in all of their courses. This ensures that accommodations being applied match the unique demands of each course.
What do I do if I require a change in my approved accommodations?
If you would like to request a change to your current accommodations, you may still renew them online to ensure your existing accommodations are in place. After issuing the notice of accommodation to your instructors, please reach out to the Centre (caladmin@sfu.ca
; 778-782-3112) to book an appointment with your Disability Access Advisor to discuss additions or modifications of accommodations.
When can I expect to receive Confirmation from my instructor?
Typically, instructors respond to accommodation notifications within a couple of days of receipt. If you have not received an update from your instructor after 10 days, the Centre will proceed with implementing your accommodations with the understanding that your instructor has no concerns.
How do I request to write midterm tests, quizzes and final exams with accommodations?
If you are entitled to midterm test/quiz and final exam accommodations, you will need to make exam requests using the Centre's online test and exam booking system according to the following deadlines:
-Midterm exam bookings are due 1 week prior to the class test date
-Final exam bookings are due 2 weeks prior to the start of final exam period
What does the status “Waiting for Student to Request” mean?
This means that you have not yet requested accommodations for the course in question.
What does the status “Sent” mean?
Once you’ve renewed accommodations for a course, a “Sent” status will be displayed. This means that your accommodation letter has been sent to your instructor for acknowledgement.
What does the status “Confirmed” mean?
A "Confirmed" status means that your accommodation letter for this course has been reviewed and acknowledged by your instructor.
What does the status “Pending” mean?
A “Pending” status will be displayed if the system was unable to complete your request and a letter could not be sent for this course. It is critical that you notify the Centre and book an appointment with your Disability Access Advisor in order to receive accommodations in this course.
